Charters fare poorly overall

Most central Ohio charter schools, including statewide Internet schools and those run by school districts, landed at the bottom of the bunch in terms of state grades.
Of the 60 charters that serve the region, 24 got an equivalent of an F — more than double the number from last year. One received the top rating; 12 got a C.
Four schools received a grade higher than expected because of their value-added scores: Academy of Columbus jumped to a D, International Academy of Columbus and Chase Academy for Communication got a C, and the Upper Arlington-run Wickliffe Progressive Community School scored an A+.
Charter schools are public schools, but private operators run most of them.
