Monday was good day to close schools

I applaud local school districts for remaining closed Monday, the first school day after our record snowfall.

I travel north on Maple Canyon Avenue and east on Community Park Drive. This area has at least four school bus stops. On a good day this is a dangerous place for school kids. There are no sidewalks or street lights and the area is frequently flooded so it’s not uncommon for kids to be forced to wait in the street for their buses.

On Monday, not quite two full lanes were open. With the time change, these kids were waiting in the dark. I have no doubt closing schools prevented a disaster in this area.
